The Cairns Chinese Friendship Garden is located within the larger Cairns Botanic Gardens complex, a naturally kept, vast garden in Edge Hill, to the north of the city centre. Within this larger complex are the tranquil waters of Freshwater and Saltwater Lakes. The Freshwater Lake side contains the recently completed Chinese Friendship Garden, or Zhanjiang Friendship Garden.
Entry to both the Cairns Botanic Gardens and the Zhanjiang Friendship Garden is free, and it is open throughout the year from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm daily.
The entry to the Cairns Chinese Friendship Garden is on Greenslopes Street. If you are taking the bus, catch Service 130 and either get off at Centenary Lakes (Greenslopes St) stop when travelling east, or Greenslopes Street near Mayers St when travelling west.
Alternatively, catch Service 131 and hop off at the main stop at the Cairns Botanic Gardens on Collins Ave, and make your way by foot through the Gardens to Greenslopes Street. It’s about a 15 minute leisurely stroll.
